Penny Dreadful Interactive Windows

To gear up for the Showtime series premiere of Penny Dreadful in mid-May 2014, the network partnered with Van Wagner Experiential to create interactive, live vinyl window displays, which featured scenes from a Victorian London street — complete with bats, spiders, and werewolves.

The displays also included silhouetted characters from the show, whose eyes followed the passersby, as they walked down the streets of New York or Los Angeles. This was possible due to depth-measuring, LIDAR lasers that tracked people walking by. Live Vinyl (where LED panels backlight printed vinyl) allowed for silhouettes of the characters of the show to be displayed.

If pedestrians were brave enough, the displays also included peepholes, which previewed scenes from the show, revealed character cinemagraphs, and provided users a custom GIF to share socially.
